Our story
ValiEdge Loom Studio began as a small circle of bead artists who sketched patterns while hiking coastal forests. We noticed our most durable, breathable pieces followed natural ratios—branching pathways, spiral growth, woven bark. We formed a studio to teach bead weaving by studying these structures and translating them into dependable, elegant techniques.
Mission and values
-
Nature-shaped learning
Techniques that echo forest logic produce stronger seams, smoother drape, and calmer hands.
-
Respectful sourcing
We promote responsible material use and transparent supplier relationships.
-
Craft with clarity
Every lesson includes diagrams, pacing tips, and quality control checkpoints.
Milestones
2019 — First forest syllabus
We built a loom course series around canopy-to-root tension balancing.
2021 — Technique glossary goes public
We released a free reference on peyote, brick, RAW, and herringbone—still community-maintained.
2024 — Studio expansion
We added structural analysis labs and critiques to help learners audit durability.
Team
Mara Chen — Lead Weaver
Specializes in loom architecture and drape physics. Teaches Foundations and Structural Mastery.
Diego Ibarra — Technique Mentor
Focus on peyote variants and brick stitch finesse with tension mapping and thread economy.
Rae Afolayan — Materials Guide
Advises on glass uniformity, thread memory, and ethical sourcing for resilient beadwork.
